Project: Craig Street Reconstruction
Location: London, ON
We’ve seen a few questions and comments recently about the ongoing work on Craig Street, so we thought it might be helpful to share a bit about what our role is and isn’t on this project.
Our firm was hired by the City to provide engineering services and inspections during construction. In simple terms, we design the project and then help make sure the construction is completed in a way that meets the City’s standards for safety, durability, and long-term performance.
It's important to note that we don’t perform the construction. The contractor was selected by the City through their tender process, and they’re responsible for the actual building, scheduling, and day-to-day operations on site.
Where we come in is quality assurance. If our inspectors see something that doesn’t align with the approved plans, provincial standards, or good engineering practice, we flag it for the City so it can be discussed and resolved. This step helps ensure that the road, underground services, and surrounding infrastructure are built correctly and will serve the community well for years to come.
Large infrastructure projects especially those involving underground utilities can sometimes face unexpected challenges. When that happens, additional coordination is needed between the City, contractor, and our team. While this can impact timelines, it’s also part of making sure the finished product is something the community can rely on.
We appreciate the patience residents have shown throughout the Craig Street reconstruction and hope this helps explain the part our team plays in the process. We’re committed to supporting the City and contractor as the project progresses and to helping deliver a final result that benefits everyone who uses the roadway.
If you’re curious about any aspect of our work or the engineering process, we’re always happy to share more
